Hold a public hearing, and discuss, deliberate and provide staff with direction regarding the proposed site for construction, expansion, and use of an electric power transmission substation generally located in the northeast corner of East Sherman Drive and Hartlee Field Road; as part of Denton Municipal Electric's service territory. BACKGROUND
The Denton Municipal Electric (DME) Capital Improvement Program includes a project to reconstruct its electric transmission system. Its current capacity is inadequate for expected future load. The need for a substation in the vicinity of the above described area (Exhibit 1), in the City of Denton, Texas, has been identified and shared with closely impacted landowner representatives.
DME held an open house and meetings to discuss the siting of the proposed substation and transmission routes with the landowner representatives of the potential site area and has received feedback from them.

Options were presented in Closed Session to the Public Utilities Board on March 27, 2017, and to the City Council on December 6, 2016. A Public Hearing was held at the Public Utilities Board meeting on April 10, 2017, at which time the PUB recommended the yellow site option. (vote 7-0)
