Title

Appreciation of outgoing EDP Board members and welcome of incoming EDP Board members.

Body

BACKGROUND

Cleve Breedlove and Larry Parker’s terms on the EDP Board have ended. Fellow Board members and City officials and staff appreciate their service to the community during their time on the Board.

The EDP Board is pleased to welcome new members Bob Eames, who is filling the Aviation seat left by Cleve, and Jill Jester, who is filling the Denton Chamber of Commerce seat left by Larry. We also welcome Councilmembers Keely Briggs and Gerard Hudspeth as the new City Council representatives to the Board. Current members Jim Fykes, Top 20 Taxpayer representative, and John Baines, Denton Black Chamber of Commerce, have been nominated to serve another term.

New members were invited to attend the Sept. 13 meeting as guests, and will begin their official terms on the Board at the October 11th meeting.

STRATEGIC PLAN RELATIONSHIP

The City of Denton’s Strategic Plan is an action-oriented road map that will help the City achieve its vision.  The foundation for the plan is the five long-term Key Focus Areas (KFA):  Organizational Excellence; Public Infrastructure; Economic Development; Safe, Livable, and Family-Friendly Community; and Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship.  While individual items may support multiple KFAs, this specific City Council agenda item contributes most directly to the following KFA and goal:

Related Key Focus Area:                      Economic Development

Related Goal:                                                               3.4 Encourage development, redevelopment, recruitment, and retention

                                                                                                                                                   Respectfully submitted:

Caroline Booth

Director of Economic Development
