SUBJECT
Title
Receive a presentation and hold a discussion regarding solid waste and recycling policy for the City of Denton.
Body

BACKGROUND
At the request of Council Committee on the Environment (COE), City staff have compiled an overview of current solid waste and recycling policy, with the intent of initiating a conversation on future policy direction and citywide goals for recycling and waste diversion. The City's current policy documents are in need of a number of updates to language and basic service information, and staff have already begun to compile these. However, the documents also lack clear and specific goals related to recycling and solid waste management. In this presentation - which will likely be the first in a series of discussions on this topic - staff are requesting direction to ensure that, once updated, codified policies reflect the City's overall philosophy and goals related to recycling, diversion, and waste resource management.
