SUBJECT
Title
Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding Denton Development Code Subchapter 17 Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs).
Body
BACKGROUND
On June 6, 2016 the Committee on the Environment (COE) gave staff direction to proceed with proposing revisions to Subchapter 17 of the Denton Development Code (DDC). As outlined in the Prior Action / Review section below, the COE has met eight times to review and provide recommendations for numerous proposed changes. The changes were classified into four major categories: editorial corrections, code language clarification, code language additions, and policy changes. Recommended changes are meant to make the code more clear, improve organization, and simplify code language. On April 3, 2017 staff presented the last policy changes to Subchapter 17.
This presentation would provide a compilation of all proposed changes, and it is meant to keep the new COE member abreast of the recent Committee's efforts in addressing ESAs.
All proposed changes are shown as redlines in Exhibit 1. A clean version of the proposed changes is provided as Exhibit 2. The proposed changes will require amending multiple subchapters of the Development Code, creating a new ESA criteria manual, revising development applications and checklists, and amending the official Environmentally Sensitive Areas map.
