Hold a public hearing and consider approval of a resolution regarding the proposed site for construction, expansion, and use of an electric power transmission line generally located in an area bounded by Bernard Street (western boundary), Eagle Drive (northern boundary), S Locust Street and W Collins St. (eastern boundary), and W Collins Street (southern boundary) lying within the City of Denton, Denton County, Texas; as part of Denton Municipal Electric's service territory. BACKGROUND
The Denton Municipal Electric (DME) Capital Improvement Program includes a project to reconstruct its electric transmission system. Its current capacity is inadequate for expected future load. The need for a transmission line in the vicinity of the above described area (EX 1) in the City of Denton, Texas, has been identified and shared with closely impacted landowner representatives.
DME held an Open House on 3/23/2017 to discuss the proposed transmission routes with residents and landowners. The Public Utilities Board held a Public Hearing on the project on 4/24/2017, and voted 6-0 to recommend the blue route.
OPTIONS
1. Approve the option presented.
2. Do not approve of a site option and direct that other actions be taken.
3. Table the discussion.
4. Postpone action for another meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
Based upon information received during Open House meetings and discussions with land owners, preliminary site studies, DME recommends that the Blue Transmission Line Route (EX 1) be selected in accordance with the Public Utilities Board Public Hearing determination on April 24th.
