SUBJECT

Title

Receive a report from Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) staff to include State of the Agency, passenger enhancements, bus operations and DCTA capital projects, and provide direction regarding strategic initiatives in the Denton County Transportation Authority’s service plan.

Body

BACKGROUND

DCTA staff will provide a quarterly briefing to the Mobility Committee and the Traffic Safety Committee to include State of the Agency, recent enhancements to the DCTA system to include passenger amenities, expanded service and future planning initiatives.  The briefing will provide the Mobility Committee with a status report on the following initiatives and programs:

                     State of the Agency

                     Connect Service Enhancements

                     Passenger Amenities

                     Rail Trail Update

                     35W Corridor Service Implementation

                     Long-Range Strategic Planning

o                     High Intensity Commuter Corridors

o                     A-train Extension

o                     Land Use & Station Density

DCTA staff will also discuss potential future transit service expansion related to a proposed park and ride located near Loop 288 and US 380 including local bus service expansion, university shuttles, new commuter bus service and A-train commuter rail extension. The city owned property at Loop 288 and US 380 has been an identified as the preferred location for a park and ride to meet Agency plans for future transit service expansion. This proposed park and ride would be developed using a phased approach to meet the need of transit services as they are implemented and in the immediate future would help mitigate the parking shortage at the Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) which is used by patrons of City Hall East and A-train passengers.

This briefing will provide the Mobility Committee the TSC the opportunity to raise additional questions on overall DCTA operations.  Kristina Brevard, DCTA Vice President of Planning and Development will facilitate this agenda item and will provide handouts of the PowerPoint presentation to the Mobility Committee for reference.
