SUBJECT

Title

Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, Texas, approving the 2016 tax rolls; and providing an effective date.

Body

BACKGROUND

As a component of the budget process, the City is required by Chapter 26 of the Texas Property Tax Code to approve the tax roll on an annual basis.  The tax levy is calculated by taking the 2016 Certified Appraisal Roll (excluding property values under protest) and applying the 2016 adopted tax rate.  The anticipated collection rate is 100 percent.

FISCAL INFORMATION

The approval of the tax roll will enable the County to mail tax bills in October 2016.
