SUBJECT

Title

Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton authorizing the City Manager or his designee to execute a purchase order through The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract# 02042315 for the replacement of Sections C, D, E, and F of the roof at the City of Denton Civic Center by way of an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Denton; and providing an effective date (File 6179-awarded to CBS Mechanical, Inc. dba CBS Roofing services in the amount of $183,518).

Body

FILE INFORMATION

This contract is for the partial replacement of the roof at the Civic Center (Sections C, D, E, & F). These sections were scheduled to be replaced in 2011 but the Facilities Management Preventative Maintenance Program made it possible to extend the life of the roof four (4) years longer than expected. The roof is now out of warranty and is showing signs of failure.

The Facilities Management Department and the City’s roofing consultant, Armko Industries, recommend the replacement of sections C, D, E, & F of the roof by utilizing The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) Cooperative Purchasing Program awarded vendor-CBS Mechanical, Inc. dba CBS Roofing Services (CBS). CBS is a local vendor that recently completed the replacement of Sections A and B of the Civic Center roof. Based on the satisfactory completion of Sections A and B, staff recommends awarding this contract to CBS for the remaining sections of the roof. By awarding the remaining sections of the roof replacement to the same vendor, the entire roof will have a twenty (20) year warranty through the same company.
