BACKGROUND
The City Charter and State Law require that prior to budget adoption, a public hearing be conducted to allow citizens the opportunity to provide input on the Proposed Budget. The required notice of the public hearing was published August 14, 2015, in the Denton Record Chronicle. The notice was also posted on the City’s Web site, http://www.cityofdenton.com <http://www.cityofdenton.com> and on the public access channel. A copy of the published notice is provided for reference.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (Council, Boards, Commissions)
The FY 2015-16 Proposed Budget was submitted to the City Council on July 31, 2015. A City Council Budget Workshop was held on August 6, 2015, and the City Council also discussed the Proposed Budget at their August 6, 11, 18 and August 25 meetings. Copies of the Proposed Budget are available to the public at any City of Denton library branch, and an electronic copy of the document is available on-line through the City’s Website, <http://www.cityofdenton.com>.
FISCAL INFORMATION
The 2015-16 Proposed Budget totals $965,833,475 in estimated resources and $965,469,889 in estimated expenditures.
