Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding the City Economic Development Department’s Strategic Plan.

BACKGROUND
In Spring 2017 in conjunction with the City’s annual budget and strategic planning process, City Department of Economic Development staff began crafting a departmental strategic plan that would align with and support the City’s new emphasis on transparency, accountability, and responsiveness. The result is a plan spanning the period between May 1, 2017, and Sept. 30, 2018 that includes departmental core values; goals/objectives/action steps; and performance measures. Staff will be presenting this plan to the City Council in a work session on October 10.
STRATEGIC PLAN RELATIONSHIP
The City of Denton’s Strategic Plan is an action-oriented road map that will help the City achieve its vision. The foundation for the plan is the five long-term Key Focus Areas (KFA): Organizational Excellence; Public Infrastructure; Economic Development; Safe, Livable, and Family-Friendly Community; and Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship. While individual items may support multiple KFAs, this specific City Council agenda item contributes most directly to the following KFA and goal:
