SUBJECT

Title

Receive a report, hold a discussion, and provide direction regarding Denton Development Code Subchapter 17 Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESAs).

Body

BACKGROUND

On June 6, 2016 the Committee on the Environment (COE) gave staff direction to proceed with proposing revisions to Subchapter 17 of the Denton Development Code (DDC).  The revisions would be classified into four major categories: editorial corrections, code language clarification, code language additions, and policy changes.  The level of revision complexity generally increases with each category as listed. On September 12, 2016 staff presented the first part of proposed code language clarifications to Subchapter 17.

This presentation would continue to focus on code language clarifications with the purpose of making the code more clear, improve organization, and making it easier to understand. Staff identified numerous clarifications throughout Subchapter 17 and the review of staff proposed code clarifications would require multiple presentations.  Code language additions and policy changes will be addressed in future presentations.

The proposed language clarifications are shown as redlines in Exhibit 1. A clean version of the proposed changes are provided in Exhibit 2. The proposed clarifications will not cause changes to the ESA map or changes to other regulations outside Subchapter 17.
