BACKGROUND
 
The proposed FY 2014-2015 Electric utility rates were presented and approved by the PUB on July 28, 2014.  The proposed electric rate ordinance included in this agenda item is designed to recover the cost of service for the Electric utility and provide a positive or break-even net income.
 
The average residential customer using 1,242 kilowatt hours would incur the following monthly charge.

The attached Electric Rate Ordinance includes adding the provisions of:      
·      The Transmission Cost Recovery Factor Schedule (TCRF).

FISCAL INFORMATION
 
The rates and charges included in the Electric rate ordinance provide the revenues necessary to cover the cost of service to customers.  The proposed Electric rates represent a 4% increase to the base rate, which is approximately a 5.5% increase to each overall rate.
 
RECOMMENDATION
 
Staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance.
