Title
Consider a request for an exception to the Noise Ordinance for the purpose of the Oaktopia Festival sponsored by Monocle LLC. The event will be held on City property, Williams Trade Square, and on the Denton County Courthouse lawn on Saturday, September 20, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. The exception is specifically requested to increase sound levels from 70 to 75 decibels and an extension of hours for amplified sound from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Staff recommends approval.

BACKGROUND
The Oaktopia Festival will feature live music by national and local bands. A variety of vendors, artists, and food trucks will be present at Williams Trade Square, city-owned property, located east of the Wells Fargo Bank building on Hickory Street. Bands will be playing music on the Courthouse lawn from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at Williams Trade Square from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Event organizers expect an attendance of approximately 3,000 paid attendees.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW
City Council approved the request for an exception to the noise ordinance and to increase the decibels from 70 to 75 for the 2013 Oaktopia Festival.
